Chongqing University is a national "Double First-Class" university directly under the Ministry of Education, recognized for its excellence in the "985 Project" and "211 Project".
The origins of sports education at CQU date back to 1936. The Sports College was jointly established in 2001 with the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, pioneering an innovative development model. Our academic programs have grown steadily, now offering both undergraduate and postgraduate education. The Physical Education major was approved as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Site in 2022, and the new Sports Training major will welcome its first students in 2025. Currently, the College has over 200 enrolled students.
Our faculty team of over 60 members includes 4 professors, over 30 associate professors, 1 Olympic champion, 6 national champions, and 11 doctoral degree holders.
No Excellence Without Sports; True CQU Distinction Includes Sports. The College provides public physical education for all CQU students while managing high-level athletic teams and sports competitions. Our facilities are among the best in Southwest China, featuring the massive CQU Sports Center with its comprehensive indoor and outdoor venues. We have established specialized centers for badminton, fitness testing, and scientific research, alongside strong partnerships with schools and sports organizations that create valuable student opportunities.
Looking ahead, the Sports College remains committed to "Health First" and the spirit of Chinese sports. We aim to build a distinctive college that matches CQU's world-class ambitions, contributing to both public fitness and competitive sports excellence.
